As of today 12 April 2016 Window 7 SP1 hangs in searching for updates.  Unlike other postings in 2015, their is no Orchestrator service in services.msc.  Prior to today Windows update was working fine.  Why is this happening?  Is there any other way to get these updates.  I have restarted the OS to no benefit.

You could have either installed KB3168965 on both Vista and 7 manually (it's only about this update, but likely only for this month), or installed KB3168965 on Vista and KB3172605 (including a new version of the Windows update client, permanent fix) on 7.

Alas yes the updates again for July 2016 are hanging both for Vista and W7 for me.  None of the quick fix from Microsoft from two months ago are supported any more..I tried everything so I resorted to a long standing way to get the updates..patience,..(not good at that)..I created a power schedule that did not let the computer go to sleep or shut off hard drive or hybernate..and just let the "downloading" at zero run overnight..like 8 hours and alas most went in!!  Went back and searched again and the remaining went in rather quickly..like 20 minutes..

So frustrating..next time I will try nothing..just set it and forget it!

KB3161608 was only pulled as of yesterday as far as I've noticed and I often check links it was good for a while.

Finally checking wife's computer, last Windows computer left, and I did not have KB3020369 installed. That KB3161608 was pulled almost as soon as it was realesed, so not available anymore.

Installed KB3020369 anyway. Will see what happens next month!
