As of today 12 April 2016 Window 7 SP1 hangs in searching for updates.  Unlike other postings in 2015, their is no Orchestrator service in services.msc.  Prior to today Windows update was working fine.  Why is this happening?  Is there any other way to get these updates.  I have restarted the OS to no benefit.

Please be more descriptive.  Exactly what are you doing and exactly what is the result?  What do you mean by never ends?

Why is it that you are concerned about 25%CPU usage?  Does that seem outrageous to you?  Are you concerned about power cost?  Does your system overheat?

    Really, there is nothing wrong.

Set your WU settings at NEVER.  Run WU manually once a month 2 days after the 2nd Tuesday.  When you run WU, hide all WINDOWS updates that are not labeled security.  Just one time, install GWX Control Panel.   Easy as that.  Your system will be fine and kept up to date by you quite sufficiently and your CPU can rest!

What is the point to your reading this thread if you are not going to follow the recommendations??

Stop the WU.  Download and install the appropriate KB3145739, restart and then start WU again.
