New Win7 install will not do windows update ***FINALLY FIXED***

Like others (long lisst on this board....), I have no luck doing windows update after wiping my HD and re-loading Win7 from fresh.  This is an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe MB with 3 Gb of memory with AMD64/4400+  Athlon 64 processor  with OS on a Kingston 120 Gb SSDNow 300 SSD.  Win7 is with SP1.

This will happens with no other software installed (i.e. anti-virus) and immediately after OS installation..  No problem at all with any hardware in “Device Manager”.  The machine will communicate with the web just fine since I went directly to MS and download/ install IE11 which is working and e-mail is also working.  I have tried:

  1. Windows Update Troubleshooter does not work.
  2. Occationally I get error code 8007000E but none of what it says can cause it applies here i.e. language, memory, anti-virus, etc.
  3. MS  “Fix it” – does not work

I MS no longer supporting new win7 installs?

    Answer EACH question by number in your very next reply:

    1a. When (exact date) does your current Norton Internet Security subscription expire?

    1b. In Windows Explorer [WinKey+E], navigate to & right-click on:

    • **C:\Program Files**Norton Internet Security <=this folder

    Select PROPERTIES: What's the CREATED date displayed on the resulting GENERAL tab?

    1. When (exact date) did you "wipe it and start over with a clean" install of Win7 32-bit?
    2. Have you Activate (Authenticated; Validated) the clean install of Win7 yet?
    3. Where did you obtain the OEM installation media you used to do the clean install of Win7?
    4. How long was the computer been connected to the internet before you install Norton Internet Security?

    Hello everyone,

    I have the exact same issue.

    A system file corrupted on my laptop so I did a full OS restore (running win7), and now my laptop just hangs in "checking for updates". I also installed the update standalone installer and it too is hanging in "checking for updates".

    Interestingly there is an icon on my taskbar that says "new updates are available" but when I click on it, it takes me to the control panel window where it is still just "searching for new updates". Something isn't quite right...

    Maybe it is a microsoft issue?

    1a. When (exact date) does your current Norton Internet Security subscription expire?

    I cannot give you an exact date since the new Norton’s does not give expiration dates, only that it is “active”.  What I can tell you is this is a new subscription which I only started in January of this year.  So it will expire in about 11 months.

    1b. In Windows Explorer [WinKey+E], navigate to & right-click on:

    Last Thursday - 2/25/2016

    1. Have you Activate (Authenticated; Validated) the clean install of Win7 yet?

    As per recommended by MS, it was activated automatically and immediately after clean install when the machine hooked up to the web.

    1. Where did you obtain the OEM installation media you used to do the clean install of Win7?

    I brought it from Newegg approximately 1.5 years ago.

    1. How long was the computer been connected to the internet before you install Norton Internet Security?

    On this install about 1 hour.

    I am starting to think the same i.e. it is an MS issue.  One only have to look at the list of people on this board that is having update problems.  Of course, I now have two machines with the same problem...  One that had its OS installed for more than a month and has been working fine until this week....

    I wonder if the moderator of this board give feedback to MS?

    Most of the time just manually installing the new client and restarting will fix the issue,

    Which net framework do you show in uninstall a program ?
