New Win7 install will not do windows update ***FINALLY FIXED***

Like others (long lisst on this board....), I have no luck doing windows update after wiping my HD and re-loading Win7 from fresh.  This is an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe MB with 3 Gb of memory with AMD64/4400+  Athlon 64 processor  with OS on a Kingston 120 Gb SSDNow 300 SSD.  Win7 is with SP1.

This will happens with no other software installed (i.e. anti-virus) and immediately after OS installation..  No problem at all with any hardware in “Device Manager”.  The machine will communicate with the web just fine since I went directly to MS and download/ install IE11 which is working and e-mail is also working.  I have tried:

  1. Windows Update Troubleshooter does not work.
  2. Occationally I get error code 8007000E but none of what it says can cause it applies here i.e. language, memory, anti-virus, etc.
  3. MS  “Fix it” – does not work

I MS no longer supporting new win7 installs?

    ...the last time I had the machine on this morning, it had downloaded the couple of hundred updates but when I asked it to do a Windows Update, it was still spinning for 4 hours.  Since I had to leave by noon, I had to stop it...

    Given the above...

    The computer should NOT be connected to the internet or any local networks (i.e., other computers) in its current state. All business & personal data (including online banking & credit-card passwords) should be considered at-risk, if not already compromised.

    Thanks for the continued interest guys!  Right now things are actually on hold since I am on the road and no longer at home, so no access to the desktop machine for the next 3 days. 

    One thing you should know is the last time I had the machine on this morning, it had downloaded the couple of hundred updates but when I asked it to do a Windows Update, it was still spinning for 4 hours.  Since I had to leave by noon, I had to stop it.  So more on this when I get home and get back on the desktop PC.

    Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably without quoting my post:

    1. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)?
    2. Is KB3134814, KB3115858, KB3124280, KB3126587, KB3126593, KB3134214, KB3122648 and/or KB3127220 listed in Installed Updates (not Update History)? [1]
    3. How about KB3135445, KB3123862, KB3035583, KB2952664 and/or KB2990214?
    4. *Assuming Java is installed =>*Is Java Version 8 Update 73 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp [2]
    5. Is Adobe Flash Player v20.0.0.306 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ 
    6. When (exact date) was Internet Explorer 11 installed according to Installed Updates?
    7. What Update Version & KB number are displayed in the second line of text in IE11's Help | About [Alt+H+A] tab; e.g., Update Version: 11.0.99 (KB1231231) ?
    8. Is Firefox version 44.0.2 (or higher) and/or Google Chrome version 48.0.2564.116 (or higher) and/or any other alternate browser installed?
