I accidently uninstalled Windows Defender for Windows 10. How do I reinstall it?

    I came across a note (sorry...can't recall where) that said Defender would turn itself off if it encountered another anti-virus program (or maybe remnants of one?). It didn't say anything about turning it back on. That might be a clue. I still have no idea how to "reinstall" Defender.

    How do you reinstall Defender? 577 error code doesn't seem to be fixable at this time and keeps upgrades for Windows 10 from working. What do I do next??

    Thanks - instinctevly that sounds right when I first downloaded the other anti virus program it automatically turned off defender so maybe the remnants are still there as you suggest - I'll hunt around & see how I go or if no luck subscribe & pay for a commercial program

    some how MPC cleaner has gotten in my computer and blocks any attempt to delete or reinstall defender. Can you help?
