how do I reinstall windows defender for windows 10

Yes I quite agree with the straight forward fix. however it seems to be the general problem in this thread that Win 10 has been corrupted by third party apps, some of which hang on to your computer no matter how hard one tries to delete them normally, or perhaps corrupted by malware. I believe that if a problem persists then a clean re-install of an OS should cure it. The only other problem is if the manufacturers kernel software is corrupted which is better fixed by a professional. Once running correctly keep it automatically updated and don't fiddle with it!

Hi LucyBake you cannot unistall Defender Programe coz this is the Windows built-in programme i think you have disabled it. To enable go to run (Win + R) and type (msconfig) then click OK select the services tab scroll down and find Windows defender in the list.

Is there a check in box? If no, select it click on OK close out and restart the computer. If yes, it is OK, go to Run and type  (SERVICES.MSC) click OK and locate for Windows Defender Service right click on it select properties select automatically under startup type then click OK, then restart your PC.

Please perform all steps with adminisrator login. and please let me know the result.

its been 2 month no solution

Windows Defender for Windows 10

I am getting error  0x80070422

never installed any antivirus

Windows Defender Service WinDefend is grayed cannot change or start

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Service is grayed cannot change or start (err 13: the data is invalid)

I scan with latest mrt my system is clean  sure no virus

I feel most satisfied that a computer expert backs me up (No pun intended)! I have been using windows 10 for some time now, I let Win Defender get on with its work and occasionally run a full scan even though it automatically runs a scan when the computer is not too busy and I have never had any problem. Defender has warned me about malware etc. even in email attachments, my using another integrated app Win Live Mail. Like Defender, Edge is an integrated app. Playing them off against other apps will only court problems with the overall integration of the Win10 OS.
