    tried that, doesn't allow me to restart, so now what?  Saw a lot of questions on this page, but no answers.

    I get this error as well. Because the digital signature cannot be verified resulting in Defender failing to start, Windows Update cannot install updates for Defender!! So I now have a failing update that won't go away!!

    If you have Defender  & have Viper for Antivirus Can you keep Defender
