2016-10-02T14:06:00+00:00 First off, big thanks to Francisco Coca for all of the effort with this board.
I read through all of the posts, and tried to follow the steps, and couldn't get through.
The problem was the Abyss web server - I was getting the problem where I was getting a listening error with port 80.
I did a variety of searches on port 80: finding out what was assigned to port 80; assigning port 80 to Abyss; etc. Lot of confusion info.
Here's what worked for me -- from this page:
"Its safe to kill, most of the time is a service called World Wide Web Publishing Service.
You can go to, Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - World Wide Web Publishing Service, then choose stop and in properties change the startup type to manual."
I just stopped World Wide Web Publishing Service, exited out of Abyss and relaunched it, and I got the "default host on port 80 is up and running" message that I'd been failing to get.
After that, I did the trick to get the Zune into restore mode, plugged it in, and the Restore process ran flawlessly.
BTW, the reason I wanted to run the Restore mode was that my Zune HD (60 GB) was increasingly giving me errors where songs where being incorrectly assigned - I'd want to play one song, and it would either error, or play the wrong song. This was especially frustrating with audio books. I had to stop three audio books because the sound would suddenly start playing a podcast - it would still list as playing the audiobook, but instead of hearing Game of Thrones I'd be hearing Marc Maron.
Whether restore will fix that or not, time will tell. Figured it was worth a try, versus wiping the Zune and starting from scratch.
Hope this information helps. Thanks again to Francisco.
