for all you guys that need to restore your zune. ya need to do a 20 gigs partition with win 7 ultimate updated +.net framework all versions installed + zune software 4.8 + firmware update installing msi (x86 or x64)  :

update 04/09/2016 :

  1. make a 20 gigs partition on  hdd
  2. .install win 7 ultimate edition 
  3. install net framework 3.5.1 + all win 7 updates.

4 . install zune software 4.8 and zune firmware msi- (x86 obviously in 32 bit or -x64 in 64 bit system)

  1. plug the zune to computer. it will be downloading the last version of zune drivers
  2. start zune software and update screen will be displaying in main zune softs screen . thats it. 

when you double click zune  firmware-x86 or x64 the msi package install FW .cab files in: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Zune\Firmware Updates 

and firmware update.xml emulates online mode for restoring ;D 

EDIT: FIRMWARE OFFLINE RECOVERY WILL WORK ONLY ON WIN 7.

    No it didn't work.  The server is up and running now.  I'll send some screen captures.  I love the back to future reference!  As soon as we fix this I'll make like a tree...  and get out of here.  I'll probably stay and try to help David.  So, I am connected to the internet.  I have my computer hardwired into my router.  I did already delete abyss folder on c: and extracted your .rar abyss to C: which is how I got the server to work.  Well I think it's working.  Any ideas?

    im going to buy some thing to eat but ill be back soon to upload a much simple rar file for restoring . see ya in couple of mins

    Pick me up a burger!  After I follow your steps, do I just launch zune software and plug in the zune?  I feel like I have the abyss server and host file working.

    Does this mean the server is working?

    Do I have to unplug the ethernet to my computer?
