for all you guys that need to restore your zune. ya need to do a 20 gigs partition with win 7 ultimate updated +.net framework all versions installed + zune software 4.8 + firmware update installing msi (x86 or x64)  :

this will be restoring all zune models ;D

update 04/09/2016 :

  1. make a 20 gigs partition on  hdd
  2. .install win 7 ultimate edition 
  3. install net framework 3.5.1 + all win 7 updates.

4 . install zune software 4.8 and zune firmware msi- (x86 obviously in 32 bit or -x64 in 64 bit system)

  1. plug the zune to computer. it will be downloading the last version of zune drivers
  2. start zune software and update screen will be displaying in main zune softs screen . thats it. 

when you double click zune  firmware-x86 or x64 the msi package install FW .cab files in: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Zune\Firmware Updates 

and firmware update.xml emulates online mode for restoring ;D 

EDIT: FIRMWARE OFFLINE RECOVERY WILL WORK ONLY ON WIN 7.

    Hi Aprihi,

    If you check this thread from the start and the post I sent (page 2) on the 15th April you will see that the URL you have posted is already shown there for others to reference.

    You haven't in the bit destroyed anyone's posts. We are aware of that thread and credit has already been given to those who described their methods there, and from those methods I believe Francicso has tried to condense and simplify them into a usable solution. 

    I'm sure with all the information that can be found here and there, and with that little bit of IT knowledge, all should be able to restore their Zunes. That is the ultimate goal and the more knowledge and issues encountered towards that target the more chance others have of succeeding.

    I'm glad you got you Zune restored, well done and it gives you many happy years of listening ahead.

    lololololololoololololol you made me laugh dude. you guys ussually dont read all post pages. in page 10 its a rar and a youtube video avaliable to look how to restore zune firmware. thanks anyway .

    I am sorry if I seem to destroy your post, but I think I need to inform you all in case you guys have difficulties. Check on this:

    To be honest, it is easier to understand the steps. 

    Read carefully the first post on top by jazzfan80.

    Then download the file from onedrive (mentioned there)

    And skipped no 1,2,4,6. You have to do step 5,7.

    For step no.7: don't forget to run notepad as administrator by pressing right click>run as administrator (by doing this you can do the step 7)

    It works on me. Hopefully you guys can restore your lovely Zune as well.

    Just wanted to add my gratitude for this post and your awesome help!

    I found an almost new Zune HD, like still in the box maybe used 2 or 3 times, and was bummed that I couldn't update it. Through some research I found your post and it worked like a charm!

    Can't say how nice it is to have a new Zune in hand after 6 years!
