Only updates that include the 64 info in the title of the update are being allowed to successfully update. The code was 6BB, then changed to a #d one, but I didn't get that written down. I've tried the download of the Repair.bat as administrator and that didn't work. I've run

Troubleshooters that have come up and they think they've fixed everything, but still only a few updates can download. This has been true since February. I thought they were downloading as I've re-tried updating previously and eventually the update window will say "no new important updates"--but those still had failed...updater just seems to have given up on them.

Help! I bought this hard drive for $800 last year to replace the one with Vista that was always difficult. That plus the tech's hours make this an expensive mistake. Does anyone know how to fix this without reloading Win 7?

    Yea you can use google or bing search for each KB# and will see a M$ article for the update

    Just follow the download link and download and manually install them.

    The most relevant for you might be this one

    In a perfect world they would come to you

    I believe I already suggested the windows update service reset utility and you didn't want to do it

    Here it is again if you changed your mind and want to give it a go

    Try using this to reset the update system it's very good,

    Use Option 2 on the list after right clicking it and select run as administrator

    Download it to your downloads folder

    Right click it and select Extract all to the downloads folder.

    Then right click ResetWUEng and select run as administrator

    Follow the rest of the prompts

    Press any key to continue

    Type 2 for that Option on the list and the Enter key to reset update services..

    Press y for Yes and then the Enter key I believe twice

    After it has completed

    Type 15 for that option and the Enter key to restart the machine.

    Should say will restart in 60 seconds save your work.... press any key to continue.

    After restart go to windows updates and manually check for updates shouldn't take a few minutes.

    I have no "extract all" option when I right click--what option should I use?

    I put it on desktop and it doesn't offer the option to run as administrator.

    I do already have a Reset_Windows_Update_Full icon on my desktop that I tried as "run as administrator" which didn't change the problem.

    I believe you can just click to open the zip folder and right click the correct file and run it as admin that way too.

    Did you follow the rest of the instructions for option 2 and 15... ?

    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 [which was installed on the refurbished computer when I bought it from Seattle Computers and who did not provide an Office disk] will not allow me to select "Change" in Programs & Features.

    Contact Seattle Computers and ask them how you can either run a Repair of Office 2007 or how you can uninstall/reinstall it.

    Until you can get all security-related updates for Office 2007 installed, the computer & your data should be considered at-risk.

    Is it possible that this is being caused by Kaspersky interfering with security updates?

    Doubtful but anything's possible.

    IMHO there's no need to "Reset Windows Update" since you successfully executed Option 3 in this tutorial two weeks ago.

    
Again, sometimes it's too late for the McAfee removal tool to "come to the rescue" - this may be another one of those times.

Tip => When you start shopping for a new computer, cross Seattle Computers off your list.
