Hey all,

we have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Stability fixes.
  • Improvements for GPS reliability.
  • Improvements for call audio quality.

The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the time of writing this post, the update is available mainly for selected open market variants, but the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For detailed update instructions, see.

If you are a Windows Insider user, see. Note: this does not affect general firmware availability.

Don't go breaking your phones, but all published firmware is listed at lumiafirmware.com.

I'm in the US and my phone is an RM-1116. However, it's referenced as this for firmware:

059X4S4 - RM-1116 VAR EURO FR CV BLACK

If you aren't aware, there's quite a few variants of the 950 in the world. This firmware update is not for US phones...

I haven't received this firmware update so far.

I am using an unbranded unlocked Lumia 950 and OS Build 10586.107.

    Andreas:

Download and sign-up for the Windows Insiders App from the MS Store.  When in the app select "Production" to get all available updates for the phone. Follow the prompts and it should take you to the Windows Update page.  A firmware update should start automatically.  If not, you select the update button manually and it should start.  It takes some time for the download and will restart the phone and update the firmware with the "moving gears" showing on the screen.  Once complete, go back into the Windows Insider app and change your selection from "Production" back to "Insider Release Preview" or "Insider Fast" lane.  Update your settings and close out of the app.  You will not have to restart the phone.  You should be all set.

My Phone:  Lumia 950XL, dual sim, unlocked, AT&T network

    OS Build: 10.0.10586.107

    Firmware: 01078.00027.15506.02005

Please note that MS has confirmed there are over 180 versions of this firmware that is country and carrier dependent.

    Good Luck.
