New firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx

Hey all,

we have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Stability fixes.
  • Improvements for GPS reliability.
  • Improvements for call audio quality.

The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the time of writing this post, the update is available mainly for selected open market variants, but the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks.  

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For detailed update instructions, see.

    Can someone advise why is there a long delay.

    Please, re-visit this statement…

    The availability of the firmware update depends on your firmware variant. The firmware variant is identified through your Product Code. With a Lumia 950 series phone, the Product Code is written underneath the battery cover (Code 59…). Microsoft Mobile wants you to wait until your phone notifies you about an update. This happens automatically. If you post your Product Code, the community is able to double-check your situation.

    Still not getting this firmware on my 950 XL in Malaysia. I have switched back the Windows Insider to Production mode and have been manually checking for update 2-3 times everyday since this announcement. Can someone advise why is there a long delay. I got the first firmware update pretty fast like on the next day after the announcement. Something to do with my country authority or carriers? They are known to be inefficient.

    Did you try a "soft" reset? Just take out the battery for a few seconds. Its the easiest way often, without this terrible pressing of all the bottons.

    Also the Lumia starts normally by its self, if you connect it to the charger.
