New firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx

Hey all,

we have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Stability fixes.
  • Improvements for GPS reliability.
  • Improvements for call audio quality.

The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the time of writing this post, the update is available mainly for selected open market variants, but the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks.  

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For detailed update instructions, see.

    Any idea if its been released for 059X5G2 or any estimated time frame for release? Also, just wanted to double check, I read conflicting info about insiders needing to switch back to production for the update to be pushed through. Is that correct?

    059X5W2

    That is a Lumia 950 XL and the firmware variant for several Asian-Pacific countries (from Bangladesh to Philippines). 00038 has not been released for that variant, yet. The ‘nearest’ Product Code for you would be 059X6K6 (Hong Kong). That received 00038 already.

    Can someone advise why is there a long delay.

    Please, re-visit this statement…

    The availability of the firmware update depends on your firmware variant. The firmware variant is identified through your Product Code. With a Lumia 950 series phone, the Product Code is written underneath the battery cover (Code 59…). Microsoft Mobile wants you to wait until your phone notifies you about an update. This happens automatically. If you post your Product Code, the community is able to double-check your situation.
