Top Request: Navigate music collections by folder in the Groove app

Week after week we hear the request to add the ability to navigate music collections by folder in the Groove app. We're thinking about how to build it the right way and would love more detailed feedback.

How do you organize your collection by folder? A folder per album? A folder per artist? A folder by season?

Once we expose your folder structure in Groove, how do you expect to interact with them? Play buttons on each folder? Should your folders be included in the "Add to" menus?

    My folder structure is

    Music > Artist > Album > Disc # (only for multi disc)

    Music > Compilations > Album > Disc # (only for multi disc)

    Music > Soundtracks > TV/MOVIE/GAME > Album > Disc # (only for multi Disc)

    For me the same. In addition, I sometimes do not buy whole albums. Then my path looks like the following:

    Music > Single Titles > Year >

    The other path would be:

    Music > Artists > Artist Name > Album

    MusicFolder or NewMusicFolder>Artist>Album>TrackNumber - Title

    But really, since Zune(now Groove) and the music Pass, I don't really care, Groove handle it very well.

    To all the people saying that their folder structure (that they'd like Groove to somehow recognize) is "Artist > Album > Songs", have you ever tried clicking the "Artist" section of groove? Because that's how it's laid out.

    Sorry to be that guy, but I don't want this, I'd much prefer a flawless tag/album art recognition with editing possibilities. Thank you!

    I agree with you 100%. It sounds as though most of the people in this thread use folders to make up for Groove's poor tag recognition.  If we could just edit our own tags it wouldn't be an issue.
