A week ago, Windows Update seemed to stop working on my laptop. It never seems to finish looking for updates for my Window Vista, but just spins and spins and spins. Before this, it always took 6 minutes or less to check for updates and let me know if there were any. If it was downloading an update, it would let me know its size and how long it would take. Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for the quick reply, but it did not fix the problem. I followed your link, clicked on the download button for my Vista version and I got the "Thank you for downloading" web page, but the usual download dialog box did not pop up and nothing seemed to download. I checked my downloads folder but found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it downloaded and installed OK, but like the original Windows Update on my computer, Windows Update Standalone Installer just spins and spins while looking for updates. I pressed the Cancel button, but no response, so I had to use Task Manager to close it.
Everything was working fine with Windows Update until Security Update for Windows Vista KB3168965 was posted on July 12. That's when the problems began.
