How do you "automatically" update your Windows Media Player album information if this doesn't work the first time?

Hi,

How do you "automatically" update your Windows Media Player album information, if this doesn't work the first time in respect of the data for the album, which WMP finds?

I'm not finding the accuracy of the Player good at all; if there's a double album it seems to get these the wrong way around in respect of the details. And Sometimes it gets albums entirely wrong, when I had no difficult finding this on the internet?

Before you respond I know 'Edit' and "Search" etc, but the editing process would take too long for each single. And Search is not working... I've typed the exact details in for the album, only for WMP to turn up 500+ results, which are not relevant?

Also how do you prevent your playlists being lost, if your computer crashes? How do you Save etc or is there a quicker easier way to do this? Is there a way for instance of saving these online?

(Microsoft please have another look at this forum? For instance it is far too difficult to find, and when I've been writing, on pressing Return I lose the post? Also the font selection function italics etc did not work for me???)

PS Italics worked belatedly towards the end, when I highlighted the text I'd written.

Sorry for the delay - finally found time to read back through the thread - I don't think at this point I can offer any more suggestions. The sledgehammer option proposed by MS support may be about the only one left, and if you're (fairly) happy with how most stuff is working... that seems a bit drastic!

It seems MS techs are no longer bothered much about WMP - so many people having issues with it particularly in W10 (Burn/Rip problems; Incorrectly sized artwork; DRM - which MS promised to try to fix last August... etc.) Yet it's still a fundamental part of the OS.

Disappointed you said that roll back wouldn't work... as my WMP icon has gone blank, it is still there; I've contact MS and they suggested factory restore, which seems to be their fallback position unfortunately for the most minor glitches. If you know of any way to restore this icon for WMP I'd be interested please?

I was concerned I'd missed you to be honest... when you spoke of not coming back on!Obviously, I do like WMP but the amount of issues with it, and then I had to apply some discipline to get current issues resolved with writing, personal, and the World... the latter I'm still working on. I'm just listening to a Kula Shaker now on a CD player rather than WMP, and seems I am wrong... it does have that ghost track! I suspect perhaps it didn't bother me as much with Hollow man in this format, but on WMP when everything follows on from each other? On a very positive point, I've got Word working the way I would like... well more in line with, if you recall that convo?IDrive is after months of research, testing and figuring backup programs out... is about the best one out there. The album I'm speaking of, which only creates a Japanese version, and this would be a great help... as it's probably one of my fave of that genre is:"The Best Classical Album in the World... Ever!" And I know how can someone be such a 'turnip' as to call an album that, seriously? Nevertheless tis good!Strangely, the cover shows in English, but the details in Japanese? I did a Search and well... there are only 2 options from what I see and none of these English. Please do have a look if you get chance as I don't know what I'm doing with WMP too often?I'd like to add this album to WMP but can't as things stand, with the wrong translation. Also is there not some language default to set... to avoid this?

    Hi Sebastian - How's things?

I really wouldn't go down that rollback route - we see loads of posts where doing that has just made things worse...

In any case it is unlikely to have any bearing on these issues.

Those links in older threads aren't much use now - as you say, they just take you to a general page. A lot of CDs that were intended for export ended up in overstocks and are being sold off - we see many reports of discs coming up with oriental characters but usually you should be able to locate the correct English version by clicking 'Find Album Info' (preferably with the CD inserted and before ripping it). Classical albums can sometimes be more of a problem because there are frequently many versions of the same work... What is it? - I'll check it out for you...

The 'Find Album Info' option should sort out the 'Disc 2' of a set business as well - although there are quite a few 'limited edition' two disc sets where the second disc is not recognized on the database.

    Regards, Ric

If you roll back W10 Ric to W7... is this to factory settings, and you have to put everything back on again?
