Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

The same for me. Also for my friend who has Lumia 550 has exactly the same issues... It seems that it's something bigger. We definitely need a firmware upgrade for this.

A workaround has been suggested in a similar thread on Lumia 950:

    • set maximum network speed at 3G
    • select the carrier manually (disable automatic network selection)
    • reboot

I'm not sure it will work for me, though, as I've had the issue reproduced with no SIM in the phone.

Now updated to build 10.0.10586.218, waiting to see if the Wi-Fi connectivity will break down.

Thank you Mike, for this helpful hint!

I am sorry to say that it does not fix the WiFi problem in my case: The two options you mention were always set to "Off" on my Lumia 650, but the problem is there at least 3 times a day. Also, there is no change to the better with the new firmware 01078.00037.16082.41014.

But I hope that you do not have the problem anymore!

    Happy Easter!

Doesn't solve the problem on my Lumia 650 either.

    Get it sorted, Microsoft!

Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same kind of WIFI connection issues on my new Lumia 650.

    I'm running 10.0.10586.218 - 01078.00037.16082.41014.

The problem occurs at random times, but one thing is sure, it's draining my mobile data when it happens without me noticing. :/

Hoping the issue is identified soon and an update is pushed!
