Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

    Hi SimoR79, and everybody!

    My experience ist the same: Some preview versions back, the problem seemed to be solved, at least for my Lumia 650. Then, when the new production version came out, it was back.

    At the moment, I am on the production version, and I still have the problem. I already reported earlier that I evaluated the log of my router and simply put the exact dates and times when WiFi dropped into an Excel spreadsheet. Then I calculated the time between two events. It is easy to see that it is not just coincidence when the WiFi connection drops: The time between two "dropping events" is always (!) exact full hours or at least exact full 10 minutes. Try yourself.  Example: First dropping event at 9:41:13 am. Next dropping event the next day at 7:31:13 am. Time between the events: Exactly 21 hours and 50:00 minutes. And it is always like that!

    The first conclusion is that there is a plan behind this behavior of the WiFi connection.

    The second conclusion is that it should not be that difficult to solve the problem: Just remove the "counter", and everything is fine! Just kidding - or not?

    My Lumia 650 FM radio is missing after the anniversary updates :) now am running with OS version 10.0.14393.105

    Whats might be the cause

    Since updating to OS 10.0.14393.189, I went for multiple days without rebooting and the Wi-Fi connectivity does not break. With earlier versions (save the one before last), I had to reboot once a day. Definitely an improvement.

    I was lucky to get the suddenly reported firmware update 01078.00042.16352.50011 yesterday, although it was necessary to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool and reset the phone completely. Anyway, the new firmware installed smoothly, and after some configuration work I am now back at Windows version 1607.189. So far, everything works fine.

    The change log for the firmware contains an info about the WiFi bug: "Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results."

    Keep your fingers crossed that the problem is now solved!

    I had no problem with my TP-Link Router the last few months but with my FritzBox. I'll try again with the FritzBox when the firmware update is installed over the air. I didn't like to reset my phone..
