Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

    Well I have a Lumia 650 that I bought in March 2016 and this did have the problem that it would sometimes not connect to my local WiFi and needed to be switched off and on again to make it connect again.

    However I have not had the problem for a few weeks now despite regularly switching on and of the WiFi and changed to the Bluetooth connection when I am travelling in my car. I have not changed the WiFi or Bluetooth settings.

    Perhaps Microsoft have fixed this in one of the OS updates they have installed recently or perhaps they have upgraded the firmware. 

    I would be interested in a comment from Microsoft but in my case it now seems to be fixed.

    Last couple of days I did some tests:

    1 - connected some old TP-LINK WLAN router (802.11b/g only, locked channel) to my home router, so Lumia 650 was only WiFi device connecting to it - so far no problems

    2 - I changed some WiFi settings on my MT router (locked 6th channel on 802.11g in b/g/n mixed mode) - so far no problems

    Note: new WiFi devices have an option of changing frequency dynamically depending on some factors (noise/channel usage/etc), maybe WiFi hardware from Lumia 650 doesn't cope up so good with that? (therefore I "lock" channel so it won't change frequency)

    Btw anyone knows will Windows Mobile 10 OS be affected with big update from Microsoft coming on 2nd August?

    Same problem here. I discussed this issue with Microsoft on their Dutch support Facebook page. Microsoft says that it is aware of the problem and hopes that it will be fixed with the next major update. So, fingers crossed...

    I have 2 650's at home and both have the same problem.  I also locked the wifi channel. I hope this helps.

    Hi Martin,

    I have the German version of the 650 (RM-1152) and had permanent trouble with WiFi since I bought the phone in February. I heard from Microsoft London that they are finally working on the problem.

    Some weeks ago, I installed the preview version(s) of Windows 10 Mobile. Right now, I use the Release Candidate 14393.5 which is due for everyone coming Tuesday (at least as far as I heard). With this version, WiFi has been stable for a little bit more than 4 days now. This is promising as my longest time so far without a WiFi problem was close to 5 days. Keep your fingers crossed that they finally fixed the problem!
