Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

    Hi All,

    My Lumia 650 FM radio is missing after the anniversary updates :) now am running with OS version 10.0.14393.105

    Whats might be the cause

    Hi SimoR79, and everybody!

    My experience ist the same: Some preview versions back, the problem seemed to be solved, at least for my Lumia 650. Then, when the new production version came out, it was back.

    At the moment, I am on the production version, and I still have the problem. I already reported earlier that I evaluated the log of my router and simply put the exact dates and times when WiFi dropped into an Excel spreadsheet. Then I calculated the time between two events. It is easy to see that it is not just coincidence when the WiFi connection drops: The time between two "dropping events" is always (!) exact full hours or at least exact full 10 minutes. Try yourself.  Example: First dropping event at 9:41:13 am. Next dropping event the next day at 7:31:13 am. Time between the events: Exactly 21 hours and 50:00 minutes. And it is always like that!

    The first conclusion is that there is a plan behind this behavior of the WiFi connection.

    The second conclusion is that it should not be that difficult to solve the problem: Just remove the "counter", and everything is fine! Just kidding - or not?

    Just for info, I was using 14393.103 for couple of weeks, without WiFi issues (was surprised how "stable" WiFi connection was). Yesterday I upgraded to 14393.105 and (surprise surprise) the problem is back again.

    After I entered Insider program and I'm running 14393.103 at the moment, no issues since 2 weeks now with WiFi

    I read a  lot of comments here of people referring to older wifi-routers causing this problem. I can tell you that I had this problem everywhere: at home, at the office, at friend's and family member's homes, in the hotel on a vacation. There were newer and older routers, so that can not cause the problem.

    I updated to the most recent Windows 10 version a month ago, and since then I only lost wifi connection twice. The only thing I did on top of that was deleting the pre-installed  Facebook app, that didn't work properly either since I got the phone. Downloading the app again solved that issue as well. Maybe these issues are in some weird way connected?

    So for me, the issue is solved. I did however notice something peculiar which might indicate a possible cause: I often lost connection when sitting in a chair near a DECT home telephone base station. Wifi once disconnected the moment the phone rang. This makes me conclude that Windows 10 phones, or at least the Microsoft Lumias, are extremely sensitive to all kinds wireless devices.

    My previous phone was an HTC Windows 8 phone - I had not one single problem during the two years I used that one.
