Will the firmware update without recovery? It seems silly to be forced to recover the device to update it.

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.
At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.
In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.
Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.
Did anyone else encounter this problem?

I have not seen any issues post that.. Also you guys will get Double tap to wake up option after the updates.
Everything got restored like FM radio and other bugs like Wifi ..
Microsoft is rocking :)

2016-09-21T09:40:04+00:00 I had no problem with my TP-Link Router the last few months but with my FritzBox. I'll try again with the FritzBox when the firmware update is installed over the air. I didn't like to reset my phone..

2016-09-21T06:40:17+00:00 I was lucky to get the suddenly reported firmware update 01078.00042.16352.50011 yesterday, although it was necessary to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool and reset the phone completely. Anyway, the new firmware installed smoothly, and after some configuration work I am now back at Windows version 1607.189. So far, everything works fine.
The change log for the firmware contains an info about the WiFi bug: "Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results."
Keep your fingers crossed that the problem is now solved!

2016-09-20T17:53:04+00:00 Since updating to OS 10.0.14393.189, I went for multiple days without rebooting and the Wi-Fi connectivity does not break. With earlier versions (save the one before last), I had to reboot once a day. Definitely an improvement.
