Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

    I tried what you recommended and it did seem to help.  I am not losing connection.  However, I can't trust it to be a permanent fix.  So I guess the problem really revolves around a problem with these two switches and how they affect WiFi connectivity.  

    Hopefully someone at Microsoft will get the clue and fix this problem.  It is a pain to be required to check my WiFi connection frequently because it may have disconnected and is causing cellular data to be used.    This could be an expensive bug for us consumers.

    My phone downloaded updates that appear to be for the Lumia 950/XL and not the 650 and keeps trying and failing to install them and nagging me about restarts or failure to install. For me, Windows 10 Mobile was the nicest the OS has ever looked on a phone and its functionality seems more intuitive and well thought through, but when I spend money on a Microsoft phone, I expect it to just work, like Android phones do. Not to have a buggy system core, connection gremlins or other bugs which should have been eradicated before rtm. Windows Phone doesn't need to be massive to be a success. It needs only to be profitable. It can ensure a future for itself in the Microsoft stable if its creators make function and feature rich dependable, customisable beautiful, sexy phones that will work as intended for the entirety of the time before the little inbuilt self-destruct program executes itself reminding us it's time to feed the corporate monster again. A mid-range, eye-poppingly gorgeous, metallic, non-slip Surface Phone with Continuum and Hololens integration and a bug free OS would stabilise Windows Mobile sales and make it contribute more to the corporation's longevity and profitability. In the interim, fix Lumia 650 or my next phone will be another Android!

    Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same kind of WIFI connection issues on my new Lumia 650.

    I'm running 10.0.10586.218 - 01078.00037.16082.41014.

    The problem occurs at random times, but one thing is sure, it's draining my mobile data when it happens without me noticing. :/

    Hoping the issue is identified soon and an update is pushed!

    Thank you Mike, for this helpful hint!

    I am sorry to say that it does not fix the WiFi problem in my case: The two options you mention were always set to "Off" on my Lumia 650, but the problem is there at least 3 times a day. Also, there is no change to the better with the new firmware 01078.00037.16082.41014.

    But I hope that you do not have the problem anymore!
