Lumia 650 loses Wi-Fi connectivity until reboot

With my new Lumia 650 running Windows 10, I have a serious problem with Wi-Fi, occurring daily.

At some point the device becomes unable to connect to any Wi-Fi access point, whether previously known or discovered with Wi-Fi Sense. I have observed this both with WPA access points at home and at work, and also with unencrypted public hotspots in the city.

In the Wi-Fi settings screen, I can see it repeatedly attempts to connect to one of the access points available for automatic connection, but then reverts to disconnected state.

Turning Wi-Fi off and on again does not solve the problem. Only after turning the device off and on again it becomes able to connect.

Did anyone else encounter this problem?

I had this problem with my 730 running Windows 10 and taking the battery out and leaving it out for 10 to 15 minutes seemed to work most times.

I bought the Cricket version (RM-1150) a week ago. It comes with 01078.00036.16035.40009 and there is no update available. Cricket support "is not aware of any plan to update the firmware."

They recommended a factory reset which I did. I'll see whether WiFi is still up tomorrow.

I don't know if I will be made whole - this is a major defect. They have a warranty but replacing the unit will do nothing since it's an inherent flaw. And there is a $25 fee on returns (that's 50% of what I paid).

I thought this would be an upgrade from the 635 and it was in terms of the screen. The WiFi disconnect is unacceptable.

I installed the Firmware update two weeks ago and WiFi is working without any problem. Now, I'm really happy with my Lumia 650.
