Zune Marketplace disappeared today

So until yesterday, I was still using the Zune desktop software to manage my subscription music.  Search results would show me what's in my collection and also give me the option to download from the store with my 9.99 monthly subscription.  As of today, search results only show me what's in my collection already, so apparently downloading is not longer an option.

Apparently I was the last human to switch to Groove.  The problem is I can't figure how to download music via Groove.  The app store says "instantly stream and download more music than you can imagine..." and "you have a Groove Music Pass".  The only options I see on Groove are to stream or pay $ to download.  If the 9.99 pass only allows streaming, I need to figure out how to cancel my subscription.

    • I have signed out and in again successfully
    • My computer and Zune both show up under Devices and Computer
    • Windows 10, with the Anniversary update
    • I can use Groove no problem

Do you have the anniversary update? I wonder if something in that broke the DRM

I have Windows 10 Home, Version 1511. From my reading, the Anniversary version is 1607. I seem to have automatic updates on, however.

Any new error codes to report? I'm sorry I can't help.

Are there any other Anniversary users who can download or play previously downloaded DRM songs?

By the way the error I get when I try to play Zune marketplace tracks that I have NOT downloaded is: C00D1198 (C00D0035).

Possibly worthwhile deveopment: All the subscription music that I have that I couldn't play through Zune because of the DRM error DOES play in Groove.  I just assume that means that the DRM got switched to Groove DRM for some reason. It doesn't necessarily explain why I can't download new songs though...

Unless, and I really hope this is not the case, when I booted Groove for the first time and logged in, my Zune Pass subscription automatically got updated to a Groove Pass subscription (or something like that).  That might explain how all my subscription music got its DRM suddenly changed and why I can download songs through Groove but not through Zune.

Have you ever, even once, booted the Groove music app?  Did you log in?  If you haven't, DON'T, until I verify whether that is what happened.

Some time in the next couple days I'm going to boot up my old Windows 7 laptop and see if I can log into Zune and download songs there.  If I can, it's a problem with the Anniversary update and I have a workaround (just can't use my main PC anymore).  If I can't I'll assume it's the Groove thing, and I'm hosed, but maybe my difficulties have saved some other Zuners from the same fate.

    *****EDIT *****

Actually, it might simply have been when I logged into the windows store.  I did that to download bash for windows when the anniversary update came out, and stupidly used my Zune account instead of my xbox live account. So fair warning, if there's something you want on the windows store, don't sign in with your Zune account because it might break your DRM.  Will update with results when i get around to my laptop.  Probably not before the weekend.

I can't play DRM music on my Zune (and the Zune application) now...but that is probably because I am no longer able to log in to my account from Zune.   The mechanism is broken....I get an error and the Password field no longer masks the password so there is something about the mechanism that is broken.

But while I was able to play music on my Zune/Zune app, I was also able to play the same music on my Groove app.  I can still play them on my Groove app.  For instance, I located some old music on my Zune hardware and copied it over to my PC using my zune software.  I can still play it on my Groove App...but not on my Zune App...so I suspect that the Groove App can handle both the old DRM and the new DRM...but the Zune App was never able to handle the Groove DRM
