So apparently you have to click on "add to collection" and have set to "automatically download added music". Now I'll have to find out where it goes when it downloads...
Zune Marketplace disappeared today
So until yesterday, I was still using the Zune desktop software to manage my subscription music. Search results would show me what's in my collection and also give me the option to download from the store with my 9.99 monthly subscription. As of today, search results only show me what's in my collection already, so apparently downloading is not longer an option.
Apparently I was the last human to switch to Groove. The problem is I can't figure how to download music via Groove. The app store says "instantly stream and download more music than you can imagine..." and "you have a Groove Music Pass". The only options I see on Groove are to stream or pay $ to download. If the 9.99 pass only allows streaming, I need to figure out how to cancel my subscription.

2016-04-29T02:41:29+00:00 Groove Music should download your files to the Subscription Cache folder in your Music folder, if it's from the Pass Subscription.

2016-04-29T13:47:12+00:00 I guess I'm going to have to cancel my subscription anyway. My Zune HD was my main source of tunes in the car, and I have a Zune 120 permanently connected to my home stereo. The DRM on the Groove downloads are not compatible with the Zune desktop software, and won't sync with either device, or even my phone. I really have no reason to waste my money every month for files I can only play on my PC.
My Zunes don't even show up any more in "my devices". I guess that's the final nail in the coffin!

2016-05-04T19:21:41+00:00 Count me as another customer who is really sad to see the ability to play DRMed music offline disappear. I used my zune on the train/car/gym pretty close to everywhere I went.
The ability to have a couple of days of use without having to worry about recharging, the ability to have whatever music I wanted --close to whenever--as long as I did a little bit of planning, the downloading and syncing of podcasts .
I am going to miss all of that.
The Groove music player is a weak imitation at best and on my android phone, beyond buggy. I haven't been able to play one song straight through without restarting
I understand why the device was discontinued. I don't understand why the marketplace service was discontinued, if it was going to be replaced by the fairly crappy Groove music service.
Forget offline play on my device, I can't even browse all music (only new music or top music)--that is really lame.
They may have a deep catalog, but it is not that useful to me. I really would like to explore a genre and stumble upon a new artist--but if I can only explore new music/top albums, I might as well listen to the radio when I get a chance--commercials and all.

2016-05-05T18:26:09+00:00 Same here, I've been a Zune player and software user for many years subscribed to whatever they were calling the subscription music service that year. It all disappeared with an update to the Zune 4.8 software today. I'm waiting to see if someone can fix this problem.
Here's what I know:
- As G_David points out, even though you can download music with Groove, the DRM files cannot be used with Zune software.
- I discovered the syncing (transfer of subscription music) not working last night, then I discovered the Marketplace gone this morning, along with missing device entries for the Zune as G_David mentioned. When I started my Zune software this morning on a second authorized Windows 10 computer, it first prompted me about restarting Zune software to complete some "features have changed" upgrade. At first downloading proceeded successfully and the Marketplace was available. After restarting the Zune software, the Marketplace disappeared!
- My Windows 10 computer is fully updated. There are no third party firewalls or AV running. When I try the Update process in the Zune software, I get an error. (I can't recall what it says right, now, but I will update this message.)
- By the way, Zune software collected music is importable into Groove's library, although my collection being so massive stopped at about 2/3s and no longer updates although Groove should monitor those subscription music folders.
- I could never stream music in the Zune software after November 2015 and end-of-year migration to Windows 10 PCs capable of still downloading marketplace music and syncing my Zune devices. I always had to use Groove to preview music.
Here's what I don't know:
- When will the music that's already stored on my Zune devices (3 currently, although only 2 were officially authorized) disappear? After I stop my subscription, if then? The devices still seem to go through a sync process with the Zune software, and will load purchased MP3s, but it's a very short process of syncing.
- When will the music on my computer in the Zune software's collection stop playing? After I stop my subscription, if then? Probably all of the DRM music files, when I check properties say that the rights are Unknown, I believe.
- Is it possible it's a temporary thing? Doubtful, but I've engaged in two separate chats with Microsoft, one through general chat, the other through Xbox 360. Maybe something will change for the better, but I'm not hopeful.
I have a subscription until February 2017! And I purchased two separate Windows 10 computers to take over this function when it stopped working on my old XP/Vista computers back in November. At first I could have up to three PCs, three Zune players, then four total, now just the two computers though I could add Windows phones, Surface tablets, etc.
We may be the only people on the Internet who are discussing this problem, but I intend to keep at it. I have a couple older posts that gave suggestions I tried but to no avail. I wish I could turn back the clock on the Zune software so it didn't update and cause this loss. I'm hoping this information will help.
AvuSankaralingam, are you sure the Groove marketplace is weaker or watered down compared to what you're used to? Seems like it's always been the same and a match to Zune Marketplace (no longer working).
