Zune Marketplace disappeared today

So until yesterday, I was still using the Zune desktop software to manage my subscription music.  Search results would show me what's in my collection and also give me the option to download from the store with my 9.99 monthly subscription.  As of today, search results only show me what's in my collection already, so apparently downloading is not longer an option.

Apparently I was the last human to switch to Groove.  The problem is I can't figure how to download music via Groove.  The app store says "instantly stream and download more music than you can imagine..." and "you have a Groove Music Pass".  The only options I see on Groove are to stream or pay $ to download.  If the 9.99 pass only allows streaming, I need to figure out how to cancel my subscription.

    Sorry to hear that; have you checked your registry settings? I probably still don't have the Anniversary update, so everything's still working on mine as of a couple days ago. Note: I still can't play in Zune, unless I download the track first.

    Can you roll back the update through a system restore, or do you prefer to keep marching ahead with updates for security or other reasons, or because it can't easily be prevented? Perhaps I've turned them off on my machine, but as I recall it took a little extra work.

    Well, the anniversary update killed the DRM for Zune downloading and playing. This sucks. RIP Zune software.

    Yeah, I had to upgrade from two Windows XP and MCE PCs that were having problems running Zune and downloading, or just running too slow. I ended up testing and successfully running Zune on two Windows 10 computers with miniscule 32GB SSD. One was an InFocus Kangaroo ($90, no longer available, unless used) and the other was a Acer Revo ($129).

    Update:

    Welp, crisis seems to be averted yet again.

    finally got around to my old laptop (its like 8 years old now so it was a bit of a pain working with it), and i successfully logged into zune and downloaded a song.

    Looks like I'll be able to keep my  subscription going after all. Just gonna have to work through my laptop instead of my desktop. a bit annoying, but not the end of the world.

    Sorry to hear about your log-in problems. Is there a way to retrieve your password and/or user name? That's really odd that it won't mask the password.

    Whenever I download music into Zune, it shows up in my Groove library as well and is playable there. Groove builds its library from watched folders, including Zune's. If it's not set that way, it can be. For awhile Groove wasn't keeping up with my Zune downloads, having stopped halfway through the Zune library and not building any further. Now it seems to be keeping up, at least with the newest downloads. Unfortunately the reverse is not true -- you cannot play (or sync to Zune players) DRM files downloaded in Groove using the Zune software. They are incompatible in that direction.
