New firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx

Hey folks,

We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
  • Support for double tap to wake enabled.
  • Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
  • Stability and reliability improvements.
  • Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
  • Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
  • Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.

The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For more detailed update instructions and troubleshooting, see.

    what about the Google fiasco? What happened?

    If I had to guess, I think it may be about the problem of adding a new Gmail account in the W10M Mail app, which has been going on for some time now.

    I suggest you check your firmware by going settings> about> more info. I would hazard a guess that you installed firmware 16082, which was released back in March 16.

    There is no update as yet and there is nothing showing on lumiafirmware.com. It appears on their site pretty much instantaneously when released by MS.

    It pays to double check before posting. Finally, firmware, or for that matter, other OS updates are rarely flighted over the weekend. Rarely on a Monday either. Maybe they will incorporate the RS1 build and the firmware in one hit either OTA or via WDRT.

    Hi! The new firmware has not yet been released, so even with WDRT, we can't install it because it's not proposed :(

    Still have not received the new firmware including double tap for my Lumia 950 XL single sim bought in France unlocked: 000-FR (RM-1085 VAR EURO A1 CV BLACK, Product Code 059X4T8). Microsoft, what's wrong. Will this firmware finally be released for my phone ? Thanks in advance for answering. A french customer.

    Have you tried the WDRT? It did show me the firmware and os upd.

    I would rather prefer waiting for the OTA release, I don't want to reinitialize my phone . Thanks though

    Got the update for my 950xl 2-3 weeks ago.

    Observe next problems:

    1. "Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results" - no changes, still dropping randomly.
    2. Now my lumia being rebooting, heating and battery drain a lot, so looks like "Stability and reliability improvements" doesn't work either.

    Already done reset with recovery tool, no effect.
