Hey folks,

We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
  • Support for double tap to wake enabled.
  • Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
  • Stability and reliability improvements.
  • Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
  • Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
  • Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.

The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For more detailed update instructions and troubleshooting, see.

    FINALLY!!!

I have just updated via OTA.

In the UK using Three on an unlocked Lumia 950 XL purchased direct from Microsoft Store UK.

I only had to wait a week short of two months for MS to finally offer this important update OTA.  Not exactly great, eh Microsoft?  Need to do much much much better if you still have any aspiration to have a mobile phone in the future.

I am still waiting too - unlocked 950 XL purchased from Microsoft's UK store.

I went back through this thread to look at the release history and noted the following:

    950 XL NAM:

7/20 --> Lumia FW site lists FW

7/20 --> FW available via WDRT

7/26 --> FW available via OTA

    6 days in total!

    950 XL UK:

8/20 --> FW available via WDRT

??? --> FW available via OTA

The closest thing I could find on the Lumia firmware site is http://www.lumiafirmware.com/ser/RM-1085/guid/059X5X1.  I'm still at a loss to understand as to why it takes way so long for FW to be delivered to unlocked devices.  Does anyone remember the old Lumia site that would list FW available and delivery status?  Now there's a book that MS could take a page from. :)

I feel really bad for folks on AT$T as it looks like they still continue the practice of holding Windows Phone updates hostage:

All I can say is hang in there and don't give up hope.

I'm sorry to hear this - it seems like AT&T is continuing their practice of holding updates to the Windows Phone platform hostage, unfortunately.  This is the main reason I went ahead and bought an unlocked phone.

I wonder if another complaint to the BBB is in order. ;)

    Hang in there.
