Hey folks,

We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
  • Support for double tap to wake enabled.
  • Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
  • Stability and reliability improvements.
  • Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
  • Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
  • Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.

The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For more detailed update instructions and troubleshooting, see.

I am slowly becoming resigned to the fact that we have been forgotten.

I am currently DL the EE FW. Hoping I remain unlocked at the end of it.

I got sick of waiting so flashed a different ROM onto mine tonight. The funny thing is I had an unlocked and unbranded version bought from Microsoft and the update not released for it yet (000-gb). I am on EE and they have released the update to there version so I have flashed that onto it. Now I also the Wifi and Volte calling options. So must say I am happy I flashed it rather than waiting.

What ROM did you flash?  I've not seen any on XDA or other sites.

All of different firmware for different devices are on this site ''http://www.lumiafirmware.com/ser/RM-1085''. It also has the instructions of how to do it. It is extremely easy to do.

Hi. Forgive me for being a complete tool, but if I flash the EE FW, will my XL still be unlocked? Is it just a splash screen for EE? I guess, once the 4T9 FW is released, I could reflash. The Volte interest me...

Hello! the CV in the model number is for Country Variant.

I have an unlocked 000-FR (059X4T8 - RM-1085 VAR EURO A1 CV) and still don't have the firmware update. My carrier in France is Bouygues Telecom and they sold unlocked 950 xl phones that still can't have the firmware update, and locked 950 that have it. It's a pity they dont have BOUYGUES -FR packages for the 950 xl, otherwise I sure would have flashed it.

I really hope Microsoft didn't abandon the last phones that didn't receive the 00053 firmware..

I don't think its a carrier fail because my unlocked phone is using an EE sim and there is an update for the EE variant (059X5X1).

You never know we may get it with the official anniversary update. Heres hoping anyway....
