Hey folks, We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950 / 950 XL : 01078.00053.16236.35xxx . Key improvements in this release include: Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results. Support for double tap to wake enabled. Bluetooth connectivity improvements. Stability and reliability improvements. Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users. Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users. Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users. The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually. Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. I can't stress this further as I see community members complaining that the firmware update has erased their data and reset their phone. As PepperdotNet mentioned, This may only happen for those who are trying to push the Update to come sooner via the Windows Device Recovery Tool (WDRT). Though these people are mostly aware of what will happen if doing so. I would suggest, to give the update it's time to roll-in to the phones as sooner or later it would surely arrive. The best way to check for it is through Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. or from by restarting the phone at least once a day would help. :) Regards, -Blaze

That was most likely an OS update... not a firmware update. A firmware update wipes your phone. This has been mentioned multiple times now. *Edit Apologies I meant to point this out. Hopefully I did not confuse anyone. Updating the Firmware by means of the WDRT will wipe your phone. Updating via OTA will not. Either way though, the firmware is distributed via the wireless carrier and not the Window update server.

Exactly! I can't stress this further as I see community members complaining that the firmware update has erased their data and reset their phone.
