Lumia 950 battery drains rapidly

Anyone who says you need to use your phone differently than previous is ridiculous. My previous windows phone lasted 18 hours and still had 50% left

MS needs to do something now.

I just "upgraded from Lumia 1520 running wp8.1. This combo was fantastic, 1520 is a great platform/ build quality, paired with wp8.1, was very robust, can count on 1 hand days i depleted the Battery. But was getting tired, so after waiting for the hyped 950 xl, only to see delay after delay, with finger pointing. I went with the 950, on next, this has been a nightmare, from the sign in to ms acct. OneDrive, glitches and lost a year of texts, with att rep, 2 master resets, ph. Bricked, 2nd ph. Same issue.

battery drains rapidly even after all the the suggested fixes, it does charge quickly, drains almost as quickly.

Add to this the , using the same settings as my 1520 , and for a year , not using 1 gb of cell data, the 950 using that each week, with little to no apps or browsing, away from Wi-fi, im dissappointed . With all the talk, i was expea better than experir, only to be reminded of

I upgraded my Lumia 920 (AT&T). It actually seems more solid than the 950, as far as the OS goes. The 950 beats it hands down on features, the 920 wins on OS compatibility and style.

That all being said, the 950 is now on build .63, and gets about 28 - 30 hours per charge. The 920 is already on build .71, and thinks it will get 48+ hours (just took it off the charger to test).

I really miss the rolled edges and the curved glass of the old Lumias, but I have to admit they can be easy to drop. The 950 is a lot easier to hold on to, as boring as the design is. A MOZO case helps, but the shape is still pretty anonymous. Hardware features, though: unbeatable.

I feel your pain. Nothing has been fixed in 2 months of being released, typical for both 950 devices:

-restarts

-poor battery life

-Wi-Fi 5g doesn't work

-text to speech inconsistently works

-live tiles don't update for read text or emails.

-impossible to type responses on this website

-time to leave for work

-visual voicemail

what bothers me the most is they broke things that worked perfectly in 8.1

I disagree that nothing has been fixed. There have been four updates since release (if you are on the Insider program) and quite a bit has improved. Battery life, in particular, but also broken live tiles. Sure, there are still some issues (multiple live tiles for Outlook if you have more than one account seems to only update alerts for one live tile, for example), but there is a good Feedback app and things are getting fixed, albeit slowly.

What is Wi-Fi 5g?

I haven't done a lot with text to speech other than Cortana stuff, but it seems remarkably good.

Collapsing all the HERE/Nokia mapping apps into one app has definitely been a loss. A big loss.

There seems to be some hurdle with dual-SIM phones and Visual Voice Mail. Maybe something to do with the way VVM notifications are pushed to the phone, and not being able to tell which SIM the notification is for? I don't know. Seems like it could be easily solved, but probably it is hard-baked into AT&T's infrastructure or something. Anyone know if it works on dual-SIM Android phones?
