Lumia 950 battery drains rapidly

My Lumia 950 was at 95% battery today.  I had it in my pocket for 2 hours and didn't take it out once or use it in any ways.  After 2 hours I pulled my phone out and it was at 72% and it felt very hot.  Is this the experience others are having with their Lumia 950 or does this sound like I may have a defective phone and/or battery?

This problem doesn't seem to be hardware at all. Returning your p out in for repair still do nothing. This issue is software and firmware related. Microsoft will eventually find the issue just like it did with the surface 3 battery issue.

Please stop comparing windows phone 8.1 to 10, there two different products. When 8 was released it wasn't roses neither. Microsoft also killed of It's Lumia beans so for sure they are not putting are Lumia phone issues as a priority.

I have had mine since release too. I don't remember it being that bad from the start. I have tried turning off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular data and the battery still drains really fast.

That sounds like an app issue. If you're desperate you could also try resetting your phone? They make it pretty easy. Just make sure you have a good wifi connection, and it will be done in an hour or two.

This phone is ridiculous. I can charge it all night and the battery dies mid-day without me even using it. It gets very hot also. I think Microsoft should refund everybody their money because they didn't deliver what they promised.

    • Battery sucks.
    • Apps that were promised don't exist
    • Future of eco system not promising
    • Facial recognition a gimmick, I can unlock the phone 3 times with password by the time it recognizes my face.

There are a ton of suggestions on this thread for preserving battery life. Android phones suffer the same issue. So many features all vying for processor time means low battery life. The biggest problems I had initially with the battery life was the constant WiFi searching when driving around and my music library trying to download to my new device. Disable the auto-connect wifi feature and make sure nothing is downloading in the background. There are also some pretty resource intensive apps that like to run in the background. See what's running and disable them.

To figure out if maybe cellular data or wifi are causing the drain, throw your phone into airplane mode for a little bit. See how that affects the battery life. Sometimes crappy wifi connections are the culprit.

I don't know how long you've had your phone, but I've had mine since the release last year, and my battery life is pretty stellar. Maybe these batteries need to burn in a little bit?
