Lumia 950 battery drains rapidly

But is this software problem or hardware? If software, then update could fix this, if hardware, then only way to fix is to change the phone. Anyone knows the answer? Is MS knows of the problem?

It is not a windows 10 problem, it is this phone.  I am having the same problem. Went from Nokia 830 running Windows 10 (beta) and love it. I had no problems with the phone, it would last at least 2 days without a charge, heavy use, I listen to audio book, read emails for about 4 different mailboxes, read books and shop and still did not have any problems with it. I updated because I dropped my 830 and my screen broke and decided to purchase the update.  I am very unhappy with the phone so far, Love the OS, but this phone heats up.  It drains after about 4 to 5 hours of light use.  They need to fix this. I guess I have another 20 days to test it before I decide if I want to return it.  Not happy so far.

....., there is one thing you can check...it has a built-in battery monitor, if you go to settings -> system -> battery saver -> battery use it shows whats eating up your battery...that should help you narrow things down.

Although I thought that this would have been helpful it changes every time you look at, first time its the settings, next time you look at it its the lock screen. Very inconsistent.

Haha, I agree. W10 mobile is still in its infancy in my opinion...right now yeah there isn't really any optimization, but a lot of things I noticed is that MS wants to know how you use your phone to assist with that optimization, but then again, if we leave all of that on to assist, then we can't use our phone for very long...so it's kind of a lose-lose situation.

Hopefully, it gets to the point of where 7/8 was soon, and I keep telling myself that universal apps/OS will be a good thing.

I don't have many live tiles at all.  The most active is probably just the email tile.  I don't use facebook (or any other networking site), so there is really very little activity going on this phone.  I had a Lumia 928 running the same tiles and it didn't seem to have this option.  I think I am going to do the reset as suggested by Microsoft support just to take that off the list.  It may be that there is a bad batch of batteries or it could be something in the OS that the reset may correct.  I love this phone and see no other option so I'm going to figure this out.
