Battery drain while in sleep mode (Windows 10)

Hello

I have an Asus GL551. It original had Windows 8.1 on it but I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago. Ever since it has been running Windows 10 the battery will drain completely within 10-12 hours while in sleep mode. When it had Windows 8.1 this was not an issue. There would still be plenty of battery power even after a few days of not being used and in sleep mode.

I suspect that is is coming out of sleep mode periodically and draining the battery. Just the other day I had been watching a YouTube video. When It finished I closed the lid of the laptop putting it to sleep. About two hours later, with the lid closed the laptop started playing the Youtube video all by itself. I had not touched the computer and the lid was still closed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Kevin

    Hi Shivj

    Please try this fix:

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Uninstall

    Shut your laptop down

    Disconnect the power adapter

If you can, remove the battery from your laptop

Press and hold the Power button on your laptop for 30 seconds

Re-insert the battery, if you removed it

    Re-connect the power adapter

    Turn on your laptop

    Hi,

I have windows 10 pro(with asus zenbook 14 pro ux480fd), and when closing the lead and entering sleep mode(I made sure of that in settings)

it drains the battery almost as if it wasn't on sleep mode. after contacting asus, they said it has to do with microsoft.

are you aware of this issue? is there a working fix to this?

just to compare, I have another laptop (6 years older) which can stay on sleep mode for a week.

    any help will be appreciated.

Hello BenayaTrabelsi, my name is Farah and I'm an Independent Adviser. I can help you regarding this problem

There is a known issue in Windows build 1903, and 1809.. were an Intel Display Audio device could drain the battery.

This might not be related to your issue but updating the drivers would solve this problem. See article:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/releas...

As for the other options, you can check Battery settings in start menu, and see which apps are using your battery the most..

I hope it helps, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask

    Regards

    Farah
