Stability Issues with the Windows Live Mail 2012 Update – KB3093594

I don't know what you people at MS did here, but this app is 100% broken after applying the patch.

ALL mail that comes from your service (live.com / hotmail.com / etc)  and contains unicode characters in the "from" field (e.g. "Δοκιμή Παράδειγμα" <******@gmail.com>), is displayed with garbage characters in the "from" field. The same email when coming from another service (Yahoo) is totally fine. I have even checked the headers and they are correct. I can't conceive how you've managed to do that...

One of my accounts is still not fetching ANY new emails from hotmail and it can only send.

After sending an email, it is not immediately added to the Sent folder, but you must sync EVERYTHING, multiple times, for it to appear in that folder. Until then, the sent email is not in the Outbox folder either and WLM shows no activity on the status bar, so you have no idea what happened to the email you remembered sending...

When I try to add a new filter, I don't see all the accounts that I see in the main WLM window. :(

Some of the grid columns seem broken. E.g. the "From" column from the "All Sent Mail" under "Quick Views" (if I translate it well - my UI is not in English) is empty for new emails.

I've had many nags about this piece of software already, but now you have totally screwed things up...

I was expecting improvements, like the ability to encrypt the EML files on the disk, support for addons, fixing the numerous bugs and problems, separating it out from the abandon-ware (Live Messenger, Live Writter, etc).

But you seem to move to the opposite direction...

I don't know what to say...

Windows is left without a proper free email client.

Thunderbird is junk.

Should we all go and buy Outlook from the Office suite now?

Can you PLEASE make WLM not use the OS culture and language but the one you pick when you download the installer? I hate this thing... :( I don't remember choosing my current language...

I see that you have the localization DLLs here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail, so I if there is a way for me to switch language by copy/pasting a DLL, it would be nice.

Also, the "Work offline" button that you have... Last time I pressed it accidentally, I couldn't go back online. Repressing the button did nothing and I had to google (or bing it...) it and finally go inside IE and fix that. Can you please remove this button? Or if there is some logic in turning off your mail client, then it shouldn't be a system-wide setting, but application-specific. :(

Also, I had once found a directory related to WLM filled with some GBs of installers (which I think used to be the updates of WLM). I can't find this folder now, but it would be great if you could stop flood-filling my drive with installers for no reason.

I totally agree , I cant trust emails are being sent anymore they don't show in the out box and if your lucky it appears in the sent folder within 10-15 mins . fonts are still changing , and there are  delays in receiving emails  ( one almost 24 hrs later than the browser version) Its causing headaches and delays running my website and forum which  uses a live mail account !  Even my smart phone on a 3g signal gets the emails quicker than my WLM on my desktop   which is on a fast  fibre connection. Folders are still disappearing randomly etc etc , and all the issues I listed before still exist  nothing has changed !

You are right, there was nothing wrong with OE - and moving hundreds of (important) emails to WLM (upon upgrading to W7) was a total pain in the **** - it took days and was still not 100%... 

And now I'm faced with a similar problem if I upgrade to W10.

Come on MS - give us a simple  way to either keep WLM (which is still not as stable as OE was) - or an EASY way to move ALL our existing emails to MAIL in W10. 

Is that too much to ask of the world's biggest software company?

Since lunch today WLM2012 has been Ok and not shown the errors I had, But that doesn't mean it will be fine tomorrow. I will leave well alone for a day or so unless it gets worse and then will try uninstalling and reinstalling the whole of Live Essentials.

I loved Outlook Express and had used it since the beginning and hoped to continue but it failed to work with Win7 so had to either use Outlook or WLM. Outlook was a little heavy so went with WLM.

I never got an error code so only searched regarding the problem after patching, so missed any other posts about other similar issues.

Lets hope they are not too long releasing an update that doesn't have a bug in it.

I do hope that Microsoft will see from thousands of postings that Windows Live Mail has many thousands (maybe millions) of loyal supporters, including me!  I can't imagine a better system of dealing with mail: the whole package is logical, intuitive and easily operated by non-geeks.  It has a readily accessible address system that allows groups of people to be selected to receive the same mail; a great system of storage folders and was always totally reliable for me over many years... until I bought a new computer 5 weeks ago, with Windows 10 installed.  Now, my WLM is in a state of chaos!  I have lost track of the number of times I have downloaded Windows Essentials and then repaired it using: Windows key + R > type wlarp > repair all Windows Essentials programs.  WLM then works perfectly for anything between 24 and 48 hours, then it fails to load again!  It's driving me (and seemingly thousands of others) completely mad.  I've spent endless hours trying to sort it out, but cannot.  The Forum postings do not offer any comfort or reliable instructions: confusing and contradictory advice; vested interests; even allegations of MS sabotage.  Come on Microsoft!  Stop driving your (mostly) loyal customers away.  Fix the WLM problem once and for all; and let your customers know what you've done.  We love WLM and want to keep it.  Surely that means something to you?

Hey I solved the problem.I installed Mozilla's Thunderbird Mail and uninstalled ALL of Windows essentials software from my desktop!!  Wow what a difference with the email,it's options and add-on's allow you to set it up anyway you want(really user friendly)
