Stability Issues with the Windows Live Mail 2012 Update – KB3093594

I believe I am correct stating that if you use IMAP, your Contacts and Calendar will not sync.           

Sorry, that's just not right.

Synchronization of contacts and calendar have nothing to do with synchronization of email folders. They are three separate functions. Contacts and calendar are supposed to synchronize with those belonging to the Microsoft Account you sign in with. That account doesn't even need to be set up as a mail account; if it is, though, it is immaterial whether it's set up as an HTTP, IMAP or POP3 account as far as contacts and calendar are concerned.

I say supposed to synchronize, because neither calendar nor contacts synchronization works properly (= as they did before the change) once the Microsoft Account involved has been upgraded to Outlook Mail.

Step-by-step instructions for dealing with the problem of synchronizing mail with an upgraded account were laid out in this article soon after the transition to Outlook Mail began in May last year: Windows Live Mail and Outlook Mail

If this article was given last May AND explains how to get WLM 2012 to sync mail, then why has this thread not been indicating & referring to that article? I have been following this thread for over a month & no one has mentioned it. And it cost me $42 that I didn't have just so I could use my email for job searching. It seems that those of you who actually knew what was going on, along with Microsoft, have been dropping the ball when it comes to helping those of us who are not tech savy. You should have posted that link on this thread weeks ago. And/or someone from Microsoft should have. I would have a job by now if I had been able to send/receive emails in a timely fashion. Next time, please try to be a little more considerate & respond to our issues in a little more timely fashion. I am sure that I am not the only person who would have appreciated the information on how to fix the mail sync issue. But I guess better late than never. Have a good day.

Thanks for this. Must have one of the many messages I thought of as phishing spam and ignored. Now up and running. Was quite startling to have hundreds of messages downloaded, made me realize just how many are stored on mail servers!

Because this thread is devoted to the 'stability issues' that users experienced after installing KB3093594 on Windows 10, when it was only released for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. The problem was solved by a re-release of the patch on 17 December.

The article I wrote last year was a rescue line thrown to those struggling with trying to synchronize mail accounts that had been upgraded to Outlook Mail, intended as an interim measure until Windows Live Mail was updated to cope with the new situation.

Next time, please try to be a little more considerate & respond to our issues in a little more timely fashion.        

Perhaps you don't realize that most of those 'responding to your issues' in these forums - including me - are volunteers giving freely of their time and experience to help others. Only those with blue Microsoft badges are paid to help users, but they rarely take part in discussion threads.

The forum guidelines make it fairly clear: if a search locates the same question you have, click Me too and wait for a solution to be posted. If you don't find the same question, ask your own. I can't see that you've asked one since 2013 ...

Some customers have reported other issues with the release on December 17, 2015. This update is no longer being offered while Microsoft investigates these issues farther. Server interactions will remain supported during this investigation.
