Stability Issues with the Windows Live Mail 2012 Update – KB3093594

I am having this exact issue ... I'm using Windows 7 and every update has been installed.       

Which one is that? This thread deals with 'stability issues' - that's a euphemism for program crashes ("... stopped working and needs to close ," for example). The problem only happened on Windows 10 after installing the first release of KB3093594 and it went away with the next release on 17 December. If Windows Live Mail 2012 is crashing on start-up after installing the latest version of KB3093594 on Windows 7, you should say so. We've only seen a couple of cases so far.

This will probably have removed KB3093594. I haven't seen any confirmation that if the update is installed by Microsoft Update, it will survive a re-installation of Windows Essentials. To find out whether you still have the update or not, in Windows Live Mail press Alt-F B to see the About screen. What is the build given there?

If you're not seeing program crashes, but just synchronization errors, then how to proceed depends on whether the account concerned has been upgraded to Outlook Mail or not. To find out, sign in to the account at mail.live.com. Which of these do you see in the top left-hand corner?

Please give the folks, who are not as technical and pedantic as you, a break.  Stability issues mean many things to many people.  Most view it as a catch phrase for issues that are very confusing to them.  The goal should be to get Microsoft to speak up about the compatibility of WLM 2012, Outlook Mail and their various operating systems.  They were very outspoken about installing KB3093594 or lose your email.  They should make a statement about the current status!

I am using Win 10 Enterprise in the fast mode - so I get builds faster in advance. This problem happened with the patch after the email warning you got if you do or do not run said patch(s) because WLM was being phased out.

It most likely will work as a general refresh of the bad Patch they issue. See what I did.

I had to reinstall and re add each of the multiple accounts and sync one, reboot and so on.

It worked again until the current build 'Win 10 Insider Preview 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800' around Jan 21, 2015 installed.

I then saw WLM screw up again.

I tried the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio repairs all the way from 2010 to 2015 SP1 because of my Visual Studio 2015 installed version. This was to help from getting "The program can't start because MSVCR100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program for to fix this problem." but email just would not start.

Outlook 2016 also would not sync very well with a similar set of accounts.

I closed all programs. Then I decided to reinstall again.

Save and Run:

wlsetup-web.exe

It will not take very long as its already there. Rebooted and it runs again and syncs up.

Now waiting for the WLM patch probably to come around again.

This problem seems to be new C++ or C# related OS dll's being introduced and a benign push to kill WLM in the future, maybe by re-routing to Mail or Outlook. MS does this to almost all products and programs. Since 1993 I have gone through their software top to bottom as a partner.

Neither of these new programs is as powerful as WLM, so I keep at it. Maybe MS will listen, either giving it renewed status in Win10 or fixing the abomination called EDGE, MAIL etc.

Don't get me started on the cr@ppy browser.

Apart from the issues and workarounds already listed below:

1. Font changes on headers on launching mail with new emails
2. Message 'sent to' column STILL shows the recipients name with the account column empty ( I cure this by moving each mail to the junk folder and back again but it creates 2 emails one of which I then delete )
3. My folders and sub folders  sometimes disappear from time to time, which I am able to make visible again by creating an empty folder with any name and then delete it (in the same location). This makes the folder re appear normally again !
4. Emails sent take ages to appear in the sent folder , and don't show in the outbox , they are in limbo somewhere ???

I am now  failing to  receiving my emails  in WLM yet if I log into outlook .com I can see 6 waiting to be read which  have been sat there 5 hrs !

Are we going to ever get answers or a proper fix since the updates messed it up!

It seems the answer to the question I was going to ask is….there is no answer.

I’ve had several of the problems listed and discussed – nothing in sent box, delays in mail moving from outbox, unable to send or receive (0x80004005), all seemingly as a result of the update designed to keep WLM 2012 active on my Windows 7 machine.  Where my problem differs is in that I have four accounts, two are mine and two I administer for my (even less techie) partner. Three still work fine, but my “default” account is dead! All the settings seem the same so why should only one fail?  Or am I tempting fate and the others will crash next week?  Despite uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Essentials the problem actually got worse (developing from nothing in the sent box to not able to receive or send etc).  It seems the best thing is to carry on with the three on WLM and I’ll use Outlook until some sort of fix is found.  I will certainly not be installing any patch or update until I’be seen the feedback from users!
