If you remove your broken email account from Windows Live Mail and add it again as an IMAP account it should work. The Mail program in Windows 10 is unsatisfactory, so upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 won't help you. Alternatively you could try Mozilla Thunderbird.

2016-10-02T14:38:45+00:00 I was using Windows Live Mail 2012 in Windows 8.1 just fine up until yesterday the first of October, then it would not connect to my Live.no mail anymore which is a **** shame.
Windows Live Mail 2012 is probably THE best free mail program, I have quite enjoyed free Microsoft software these past 15 years but now they shot themselves in the face, forcing everyone to upgrade to the **** Windows 10 that no one bloody wants!
The Mail program in Windows 8.1 is atrocious, it lacks everything that one needs and it will only work with one mail at the time, I have 4 mails including my ancient one from the days of Windows 98, it is inexcusable to force everyone on to Windows 10 by killing off older software!
If this kind of practise Microsoft is showing then it is no wonder people move on to Google and Apple
