Stability Issues with the Windows Live Mail 2012 Update – KB3093594

We have received reports that the Windows Live Mail update- KB KB3093594, is causing stability issues for many of our customers running Windows Live Mail 2012.

We have identified the root cause and are currently working on a fix that addresses the issue for impacted users on applicable platforms.

Sorry for the delay in posting this update.

On Dec 17^th^we rereleased the Windows Live Mail update KB3093594.  For users who had previously installed this update and were experiencing a crash when launching the Windows Live Mail app, please download and re-install KB3093594 and this issue should be resolved.

Some users have independently reported a separate issue with sync of mail with attachments that we continue to investigate.

Some customers have reported other issues with the release on December 17, 2015. This update is no longer being offered while Microsoft investigates these issues further. Server interactions will remain supported during this investigation.

    Wow! Apperently, thanks to this issue, I am having to return the brand new laptop I got for Christmas. It runs on Windows 10. When setting it up, I downloaded Windows Live Mail 2012, along with the Dec 17 update. Then my whole computer went haywire. Errors about missing .DLL files, missing icons on the Taskbar  (but I could click on that spot & access the program), the start icon quit working, & all my settings were disabled. Plus, live won'the sync at all. I did an online chat with HP Support. They said that the whole user account had been corrupted. I thought it was a bad computer. But now, I am beginning to think it was the update.

    TO ANYONE READING THIS, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE DEC. 17 UPDATE. I think it completely corupted my new laptop.

    Who do I need to contact about this? This is bs that an update by Microsoft has destroyed my computer. Now, I have to go through the trouble of returning it & getting a new one.

    My problem is a little different.  The e-mail is working fine but my groups keep unlinking from the address book.  If I left click on a group all the names will be there but if you right click and click Edit Category it brings up the edit window.  Usually the e-mail addresses for that group are displayed in the bottom of the window and on the top all the names in the group are highlighted.  Once I shut down my computer and start up again the bottom window is empty and none of the names are highlighted and if you try and put a group in an e-mail it looks like it is there but if you click on the + sign in front of the group name it usually shows all the names in te group but now it just goes blank.

    Windows 10 Pro, Toshiba P500, WLM 2012

    Uninstalled Windows Live Essentials, restarted and reinstalled.  Reapplied update KB3093594 and it appears that everything is working.

    I haven't used any of the above for over a year on that system.

    Have you EVER used one or more "registry cleaners" (i.e., since you installed Windows Live Mail)?
