How to Install The Sims 2 + Expansions on Windows 10 (TS2upd.exe Error)

The Sims 2 is an old program that causes/d issues for many, I thought I would share my experience of getting past "The Sims 2 Update Error" when installing expansions.

You will need this file, so download it now: http://www.mediafire.com/download/lzbxtj51r6b6e6r/TS2\_update.zip

  1. Install the Sims 2 normally from disc
  2. Copy the files from inside the downloaded zip and folder to "c:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2" and confirm to override the files already there. This will make the program not need to update anymore!
  3. Install expansion packs in no particular order
  4. Enjoy playing the Sims 2!

  4. Enjoy playing the Sims 2!

    I have a big problem, whenever I try and download an EP it says it needs to update, but it was fine with the base pack. So if anyone knows what to do please tell me.

    Hi I have a small problem. This works to install the sims pets, but as soon as I want to play the game I don't get any further than the Loading screen. It's stuck on the loading scene, my screen freezes, but still gives out sound. I get a message that it doesn't work and then the programme stops. 

    What can I do??

    I really want to play all the games again of sims 2!

    When I install The sims 2 on Windows 10, the following warning appears:

    "DIRECT3D HAS RETURNED AN ERROR: E_INVALIDARG!"

    Can anybody help me?

    I also have a part of this problem. It happens when I try to make it Compatable(? No idea if it is written this way) with Windows XP
