Windows Live Mail and Calendars

Windows 10

Started today 11/20/2015 whenever I access Windows Live Mail (2012)  I get an error message 'There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative.  I saw a reply for this problem dated 12/2014 but it did not address this problem in Win 10.  Please advise.  The PC was a Win 8.1 before the upgrade.

    I use POP3 so it may not be relevant, but I can send and receive emails fine with the workaround to avoid automatic updates at startup or periodically.   After clicking "Stop signing in", clicking on Send/Receive no longer causes the crash; it appears to do nothing unless an email account is specifically selected via the drop-down.  If the Send/Receive drop-down is used, email updates fine.  I can live without the calendar updates, so I'm good for now, but it will be nice when the calendar and contacts syncing is back.  Thanks.

    Which problem? Has your account been upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview)?

    I have tried your solution without success.

    I don't think I've posted any solution! If you read the entire thread, you'll see that some helpful users have been carrying out some tests to find out what's going wrong after applying the patch that's supposed to correct the faults that arise after the Microsoft Account has been upgraded. So far, we've only seen Windows 10 users having trouble.

    I have tried your solution without success.  My email account is different than my MS account.  I have uninstalled WE2012 & WE2011 several times, tried the Repair feature and every other suggestion on this thread.  None have worked.  Again this problem has appeared since the upgrade to WIN10 was announced.

    I did steps 1 and 2 to stop synchronizing calendar and contacts. This is not a problem for me, I don't require that right now. I enabled send and receive messages at start up  and check for new messages every ____ minutes. I can now send and receive emails with no problems in windows 10.

    I really would like to have access to my calendar via my iPhone

    The Outlook Calendar (Preview) should sync to the iPhone if you set up the account as an Exchange account. The problem is that the calendar in Windows Live Mail won't synchronize with the one at Outlook Calendar.

    ... will we be informed when the trouble is corrected?

    I expect there'll be a new patch released at some stage, but I doubt we'll be told if it is. We'll find out eventually.
