Universal mobile keyboard won't work

The keyboard works fine while plugged in charging but as soon as it is unplugged to actually be mobile, like its name would suggest, it won't turn on. Even manually using the power/pair button on the side doesn't work. Am I missing something or does it sound like it's definitely broken?

    I have the same issue. I bought at a trusted partner, Challenger for a 103 SGD. I didnt realise the issue when i first use it with charging port. It wasnt until i prepared to bring it out that i realised it didnt work without charging port. Brought it to the shop, asked me to find the service center. Service center opened on office hour. Lucky that i never went as i **** preparing to go after work or weekends. Phone line doesnt work and hotline available on office hours. Got help from challenger to contact them. Asked me to register to microsoft website. Need 5 working days to confirm my purchase. Now, its more than a week. No reply from Microsoft. No call, no email. I am really disappointed. I shouldnt have chose this product. Such quality at such a price. Should i use my annual leave just to get this keyboard fixed?

    I will take this as a lesson. If the problem cant be solved, it comes from top to bottom of microsoft. I will be a fool for supporting microsoft and will be the last of microsoft product i will ever buy.

    Me too... two keyboards (bought from Lazada for the first, and its replacement for the second) with same problem: no charging, seem no battery inside.

    I'm having the exact same issue too. Purchased mine off the Australia MicroSoft Store. 

    I'm going to try and contact support officially and see what they have to say.

    I purchased my wife this for christmas and already had it charged overnight. When we went to use it we came across the same problem. It Wouldn't turn on unless it was plugged in and once unplugged it would turn off. I charged for an hour more and I still didn't work. I'm highly disappointed this happened on Christmas of all times.
