How to access the Registry

My problem is that the Backup and Restore facility in the Control Panel (Windows 7) isn't working. I found a possible solution in a different forum (posted in 2009). The poster said to put the following into a Notepad file, then double click on it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

\WindowsBackup]

 "ValidConfig"=-

 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

\WindowsBackup\ScheduleParams]

 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

\WindowsBackup\Security]

 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

\WindowsBackup\Status]

But I'm not clear on where exactly this is supposed to be placed. If it is supposed to be in the SOFTWARE.LOG1 or SOFTWARE.LOG2 hive, I can't access the folders even though I am the Administrator.

    OMG why in the H can't Microsoft just make a correction update for this. After all this is a serious problem brought on by uninstalling windows 10...       

    This thread had nothing to do with "installing" or "uninstalling' Windows 10, Belinda.

    OMG why in the H can't Microsoft just make a correction update for this. After all this is a serious problem brought on by uninstalling windows 10. This should be simple for them to do. Uninstalling Windows 10 should not have caused such errors in the first place. I wish I had never ever even touched the install button which was constantly popping up and still is. It tries to install every time I check for updates, since I no longer get notifications for updates. It is the responsibility of Microsoft to fix this problem in a timely manor and they have had enough time and complains to do so. Please fix this in a update we trust the brilliant minds at Microsoft can handle the challenge. The sooner the better.

    If (Windows) Battery Status sez it's fully-charged, chances are it is. (Wouldn't be surprised to see a fresh battery become fully-charged faster than a five-year-old battery.)

    Tip: Check out your various settings/options Control Panel\All Control Panel Items*Power Options* <=here.  Chances are the battery does NOT keep charging when running on AC power.

    IMHO you'll get longest battery life by NOT storing the battery in its bay when you're running on AC power for days/weeks-at-a-time. Ideally, the battery would be charged at ~43% prior to long-term storage (in a clean, dry & cool location). Every few months, you'll want to drain the battery down to ~5% then fully-charge it.
