Designer Bluetooth Mouse Scroll Wheel Malfunction

I may be the only person on Earth with this problem, but the scroll wheel on the Designer Bluetooth Mouse stopped working, seemingly out of nowhere.  All other functionality of the mouse remains in good working order.  Perhaps I need to return it seeing as I've been using it for only a few months, but I figured I would check to see if there is a simple fix before pleading my case at the store.

    8/20/19 - Seems that I'm the latest victim of broken wheel epidemic.   Its only been 8 months since purchase, anyone have luck with warranty replacement yet?

    I wouldnt be suprised if this turns into a class action lawsuit against microsoft.  Bless their hearts as they mean well, but this is CLEARLY a design flaw that is effecting hundreds (or more) users.  It's pretty much guaranteed that if you have a designer mouse that it's going to break due to a poorly designed middle scroll wheel (cheap flimsy plastic).  This is terrible as Microsoft has marketed their designer products as high end equipment (though if you are reading this support thread you already know it's clearly NOT manufactured high end but rather to break and force you to buy a new one #FailingScupltComboAnyone?)

    Microsoft needs to address this flaw and provide replacements for the effected users if they want to handle this correctly.  NO HOOPS to jump through, NO BS excuses, just address the issue and provide a solution to resolve it (at microsoft's cost!)

    Had two more of these go in the past week alone.  As a result, we will no longer recommend or sell the product to our clients.  You know whose mice and keyboards don't fail? Logitech.

    Same thing has happened to my Surface Mouse. Purchased in November 2017, mouse wheel axle has snapped on 18/09/2019.
