Designer Bluetooth Mouse Scroll Wheel Malfunction

I may be the only person on Earth with this problem, but the scroll wheel on the Designer Bluetooth Mouse stopped working, seemingly out of nowhere.  All other functionality of the mouse remains in good working order.  Perhaps I need to return it seeing as I've been using it for only a few months, but I figured I would check to see if there is a simple fix before pleading my case at the store.

    2. What is the make and model of the Mouse?
    3. Does it not work on any particular program as such or does it not work at all?
    4. Do you remember making any changes to the computer before the issue started?

    MS Designer Bluetooth Mouse

    I used to scroll pages by moving the wheel up and down, and it would click as it scrolled.

    Now, the wheel does not scroll pages, nor click.  Rather, I have to push the wheel down, and then move the mouse up and down the desk to scroll up and down.

    I may have changed a setting on the mouse control, but have gone back to the settings and cannot return the mouse to its former default scroll settings.  I have attempted to troubleshoot by removing other mouse drivers; restarting computer and mouse; called MS customer support (transferred 6x then disconnected); etc. 

    Please help.  It's a very nice mouse, but not fully functional at this time.  Thanks.

    I too have the same exact problem. I bought the Microsoft Surface Mouse back in April and the scroll wheel simply broke just today July 22nd. 

    It's definitely a hardware problem. Has nothing to do with the OS or software. The wheel is simply spinning smoothly and freely without vibration. For the wheel to work, there needs to be vibration feedback, but obviously there is none now.

    There is no Microsoft support on this unfortunately. I tried to get device warranty on this, but without any luck. All Microsoft hardware gets 1 year limited warranty, but when I contacted them about this, they refused to replace mine for free.

    For all future Surface Mouse customers, BE WARNED! Don't buy this product. It is defective and has no warranty.

    I have heard from my friend that it is some kind of designing defect , it would get malfunctioned after 2-3 months using.I am trying to fix it ,however I have found I can do nothing after I had dissembled it.
