Designer Bluetooth Mouse Scroll Wheel Malfunction

I may be the only person on Earth with this problem, but the scroll wheel on the Designer Bluetooth Mouse stopped working, seemingly out of nowhere.  All other functionality of the mouse remains in good working order.  Perhaps I need to return it seeing as I've been using it for only a few months, but I figured I would check to see if there is a simple fix before pleading my case at the store.

    Some problem here on a Modern Mouse, ELH-00001 model 1741 lot 1726 purchased from amazon.com 4/30/2019. Worked fine for months. Now scroll wheel free spins, no ratcheting feedback. On hold with Microsoft Support, 1-877-696-7786, hoping I can get to warranty replacement. The really sad thing is this was an EXPENSIVE mouse...

    I have the same problem. Scroll wheel not working. Mouse is still under warranty but I am living outside US.  Don't know how to claim warranty and will it be of any use. Any hope that Microsoft will do anything to replace or fix this problem?

    I have the same issue, I haven't changed any settings, and it broke in the middle of a scroll. I was using the mouse scrolling normally and then suddenly the wheel "came loose". The only way I can scroll now is by pressing on the left side of the scroll wheel, somehow, it is still functional there.

    bottom line: microsoft made a flawed product and never tried to make it right.

    Same thing has happened to my Surface Mouse. Purchased in November 2017, mouse wheel axle has snapped on 18/09/2019.
