Designer Bluetooth Mouse Scroll Wheel Malfunction

I may be the only person on Earth with this problem, but the scroll wheel on the Designer Bluetooth Mouse stopped working, seemingly out of nowhere.  All other functionality of the mouse remains in good working order.  Perhaps I need to return it seeing as I've been using it for only a few months, but I figured I would check to see if there is a simple fix before pleading my case at the store.

same thing here, happened a few days ago.

I live in the EU and all products must have a legal waranty period of 2 years, regardless of what the producer/seller states in their contracts.

I will certainly contact EU Customer Support to tackle this problem of Microsoft not responding to customers about failing hardware.

If I have news, I'll post it here...

As I thought: I bought the product in May 2017, so I'm covered until May, 2019.

I've requested a repair from the (re)seller of the product.

My Designer BT Mouse failed today. Fortunately this one is fixable, unlike the Wedge Mouse I used before this one.

Is it possible to remove the whole plastic axle and replace it with a metal one?

I'm thinking of doing one myself, while redesigning the hex part to try and avoid it braking again due to fatigue.

    Nice idea - two things:

    1. I don't think I suggested 'tape' ?  I gave a detailed account of how to open, remove and replace the wheel, similar to the one above.
    2. It 'happened again' that the wheel sheared off (I dropped it :(( ) so this time, being an engineer (engine-err?) I decided not to replace the wheel but add to the wheel what it didn't have - a steel spine.

I drilled a small hole in the shaft and in the wheel and inserted a piece of straight steel wire.  I then used epoxy to bond the wheel and the shaft together.

So far, I have not had to resort to Logitech.  If I drop it again - I fully expect that the wheel will not break, but I cannot predict what the next weakest piece will be :).  I will let all ya'all know when it happens.

    Thanks for following up.

I wish I had done some research on these. My wheel stopped after three months and I of course did not keep any paperwork. It seems to me the best solution is if you do not have the tools or expertise to glue or tape the wheel (Seriously? That is the fix?), or the desire to do all that, is to put the "Designer" mouse under the wheel of your car on the way to the store to buy a Logitech mouse. Take the batteries out first.
