Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

That is patently not true. I have been using two upgraded accounts for a year now, using POP3, IMAP and (after installing the update) EAS. So far as I am aware, the only change coming 'in late June' is that users currently accessing their accounts via DeltaSync will see them upgraded to Outlook Mail. These accounts have so far been embargoed, along with several others, but now the embargo is being lifted.

Both work for me. POP3 without fail, but IMAP needs treating gently. My IMAP account is the one I use to receive notifications about posts in this forum; with about 10,000 messages in my Answers folder, it might take up to a minute to synchronize all my folders. Its performance is in fact smoother than both a GMX IMAP account and a Gmail account, and not noticeably different from that of a couple of Outlook.com accounts. It is also much better than EAS, because there was so much work left to do on update KB3093594 before they decided to abandon it.

I understand you have spoke to a product team leader who claims differently. You at minimum made him aware of the issue - If so then why the heck have they not immediately fixed the repeated garbage they have posted on this issue?

You have been around a long time ... this arrogance and disrespect for their customers is ordinary and common place. We are expendable and not remotely important. 

Why doesn't HE come here ON the support page and post accurate, reliable information? Why won't he answer to the users his decisions are dramatically affecting?

Most importantly why has he and the Outlook team chosen to abandon millions of loyal long time users? Email is not remotely difficult - and THEY wrote the new protocol ... there is NO reason that WLMD 2012 could not - IMO EASILY - be upgraded to accommodate the new protocol.

Your experience is different than mine. I installed the first update - stupidly following Outlook/MS direction in the email I received. It completely hosed WLMD 2012 - which I rely on to manage a number of email accounts. 

I read the threads - tried the numerous recommendations for fixes. Uninstalled WLMD 2012 and reinstalled it. Spent hours resetting MSN account on POP3 and downloading all the data. Only to have it stop working several days later. Did this twice.

Then I switched to IMAP.  It sorta worked for a while, however, sent, draft or other folders were empty.  It was also NOT uploading sent, draft etc data to Outlook.com so I had NO access to that information. 

I was threatened by a Judge in a Court case with contempt for not timely providing emails in a discovery request - emails I could not access. This IS a serious and important issue which Outlook does not seem to care in the least about.

I followed your instructions and changed servers and renamed folders and continue to have problems. It works sporadically, frequently times out after authentication but before downloading, and on the occasion it does connect and start downloading always times out with the note I posted above.  WLMD 2012 has been trying to sync my MSN account now for over a week.

It is totally unusable at this time. 

I realize you are a volunteer and appreciate your work. But please help us - the users - force the Outlook team to address the very real problems their arrogance and lack of care and respect for their customers has caused. 

You should know all too well that this is business as usual dealing with the Microsoft email team ... it goes back to Live.com, Hotmail before that and Outlook Express even earlier.

Would this be the correct server configuration for a pop3 account:

incoming: pop3.hotmail.com

secure incoming port 995 (under advanced tab)

outgoing: smtp.hotmail.com

secure outgoing port 465 (under advanced tab)

How about imap configuration?
