Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.

I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.

Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

Tim

Thanks mogojohn for that mail client program. Have not heard of it before.

Installed and it works like a dream. Many thanks for that.

I was going to look at it as it has had good reviews BUT regretfully the free version only allows a maximum of 2 email accounts. I have more so unless willing to pay, it is not an option for me :(

EM Client is great when using AirSync, but I am testing it using IMAP which I believe we may have to use soon because Microsoft will kill Airsync capability.  IMAP has issues with Hotmail etc which they are working on.  Attachments don't work.

I have successfully got my Hotmail accounts working with Thunderbird using IMAP

The update was updated on 17/12/15, and the knowledge base article provides some details of the update and the problems.  I have tried the new version on Windows 10 and it no longer crashes when trying to update the calender and the calender updates correctly.   I use wlm2012 the program on two different windows 10 logins, each connected to different windows live accounts.   One one it still hangs while trying to synchronise the Emails.   On the other it now updates correctly (it also updates an IMAP account correctly).  It may be that the one that updates correctly uses the new protocol although both say 'outlook.com' on the top left of the webmail window, so that is not an indication of the whether the new version of wlm2012 will work with the account or not.
